Compulsory Vaccination Schedules Dogs or Cats Need To Enter Serbia

Vaccinations for pets keep them from contracting infections that can be fatal. Pets brought in from countries listed in Annex 2

Countries not located in Europe that have a low rabies incidence rate are included in Annex 2 of the Convention. They are Ascension Island, the United Arab Emirates, Antigua and Barbuda, the Republic of Argentina, Australia, Aruba, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Barbados, Bahrain, Bermuda, Belarus, Canada, Chile, Fiji, the Falkland Islands, Hong Kong, Jamaica, Japan, Mauritius, Mexico, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Russian Federation, Singapore, Taiwan, the United States of America, and Taiwan.

At least 21 days prior to the departure date of your trip to Serbia, your pet is required to receive a rabies vaccination if they are coming from one of the countries listed above. The rabies vaccination needs to be licensed by the World Health Organization (WHO), and it should be either an inactivated or recombinant rabies vaccine.

Pets that are coming from a country that is not on the list

Pet cats and dogs coming into Serbia from a country not on the approved list are required to get a rabies titre test before they can enter the country. By measuring the antibody response of the animal, a rabies antibody test can determine whether or not the rabies vaccination was successful. At least 30 days must pass after vaccination before a sample can be collected for the titre test and delivered to a laboratory that has been authorized by the EU for analysis.

In order to enter Serbia, pets are required to have a neutralizing antibody level of at least 0.5 IU/ml in their blood. Before bringing pets on a flight, owners had to wait three months after the exam.

Vaccinations against common canine diseases such distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parainfluenza, and parvovirus are required for all dogs traveling from countries that are not on the approved list. Vaccinations against feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and panleukopenia are required to be administered to cats.

Transport of animals from other countries to Serbia

An official veterinarian of the nation from where the animal will be imported is required to issue an identity document that includes a description of the animal. Dogs, cats, and ferrets must have a health certificate that was issued by either an official veterinarian or a veterinarian who has been authorized by the competent authorities to provide such certificates. test results must be at least equal to 0.5 IU/ml and must have been performed in an accredited laboratory on a sample that was collected by a licensed veterinarian at least 30 days after immunization and at least three months before importing an animal. An approved veterinarian is required to write down the results of the titration test in the area of the identity document that is designated for that purpose.

The report with the findings of this examination is required to be appended to the health certificate. The sample of blood needs to be analyzed in a facility that has been granted approval by the European Commission.
